America may not be good at inventing food, but we’re FANTASTIC at taking food that already exists and making it better.  Thrillist put together a list of the most important FOOD INNOVATION from each state.  And they did a pretty good job, because a lot of these are going to be pretty hard to argue.  Well, except for North Dakota, they’ll argue.  Here are some highlights. 

A Paramedic Ran His First 10K, and Saved Another Runner’s Life

A 32-year-old guy named Matt Howell was running in his first 10K earlier this month in Richmond, Virginia.  And around the three-mile mark, he saw another runner who’d COLLAPSED.  But luckily Matt’s been a firefighter and a PARAMEDIC for about ten years.  So he stopped to help, and realized the guy didn’t have a pulse.

You Unlock Your Phone Once Every 11 Minutes, bout 80 Times a Day

Don’t worry, you’re not addicted to your phone.  Obsessed, maybe.   A new study found the average person unlocks their iPhone 80 times a day.  If you assume there’s 15 hours between when you start using it in the morning, and stop using it at night, that means you check your phone every 11 minutes and 15 seconds.

A Teacher Used a 3-D Printer to Make New Feet for a Hurt Duck

A woman in Oshkosh, Wisconsin named Vicki Rabe-Harrison recently saved a hurt duck, after it lost both of its feet to FROSTBITE.  But she thought she’d have to put it down, because it couldn’t walk.  So she emailed an engineering teacher at a nearby middle school named Jason Jischke.  She knew he had a 3-D printer, and thought maybe he could use it to make NEW feet.
