National Taco Day: 90% of Americans Say They Like Tacos

Today is National Taco Day.  It was celebrated every year on October 4th . . . but they changed it to “the first Tuesday in October,” so that it’s always a “Taco Tuesday.”  (So that’s more fun, I guess.)  (???)

The best way to celebrate is to EAT TACOS, naturally, so multiple chains are offering deals, mostly through their loyalty apps.  The Taco Bell one is pretty elaborate, with hourly “drops” offering various items for $1.

According to a survey, 90% of U.S. adults like to eat tacos, and around 83% say they eat Mexican food at least once a month.  17% say they eat it WEEKLY.

Mexican food is America’s second-favorite cuisine behind Italian.

The most popular taco filling, by far, is beef.  Chicken is second, followed by steak, shrimp, fish, pork, and beans.  6% said “none of these.”

As for toppings, 75% of people want their taco to have cheese.  Lettuce is next, followed by sour cream, salsa, tomatoes, guacamole, vegetables, and beans.
