A 35-year-old ballroom dancer named Adrianne Haslet-Davis lost her left leg from the knee down in the Boston Bombing in 2013. But she promised herself she’d keep dancing, and she has. She still works as a professional dancer, and also speaks at events. And now she’s planning to follow through with another promise that might be even MORE impressive.
Shortly after the bombing happened, she said she was going to run the Boston MARATHON someday. She wasn’t actually a runner before that, and says she never would have signed up for a full marathon. She was standing at the finish line cheering for people when the bombs went off.
But she’s recently been training with a special prosthetic, she’s up to 10 miles now, and says she should be ready to run the FULL marathon this April.
She ran the last few blocks of it back in 2014, and then danced across the finish line in a ball gown last year. But this time she wants to run all 26.2 miles.
