A 20-Year-Old with Down Syndrome Opened His Own Business

There’s a 20-year-old named Blake Pyron, who lives in Sanger, Texas, just outside Dallas.  And he has Down syndrome, but he hasn’t let it stop him.  He worked at a barbecue joint while he was in high school, but it went out of business recently.  Then he couldn’t find another job.  But he missed talking to customers, so he decided to open his OWN business.

A few months ago, his parents helped him buy a food truck, because he wanted to sell snow cones.  Then he named it “Blake’s Snow Shack”, hired his 15-year-old neighbor as his first employee, and opened for business this past Saturday.

So he’s now the youngest business owner in his town, and might be the ONLY business owner with Down syndrome in the entire state.

Blake’s mom told the local news that she’s been listening to people talk about Blake’s limitations his whole life.  But she and her husband have always had high expectations of him anyway.  And they opened on Mother’s Day weekend, because she wants to challenge other moms to keep believing in their kids, no matter what.
