These “Modern Stressors” Didn’t Exist Back in the Day

Things are a LOT different now than they were 20 or 30 years ago.  For example, you used to have to WEAR PANTS while picking out a movie to watch, in most jurisdictions.

Boomers and Gen X’ers are talking about the “modern stressors” that DIDN’T EXIST back in the day.  Here are some highlights:

1.  Cyber criminals.  “There are a lot more ways for bad actors to gain access to your personal information than there used to be.”

2.  “All of social media.”  It’s not just all the chaos that’s being shoved in front of your face, it’s also having to carefully curate the stuff that YOU share, not to mention worrying about “likes,” “comments,” and dealing with cyber-bullying.

3.  “People did not have a camera in their pocket ALLTHE TIME.  Public filming can be invasive.”  And not everyone WANTS to be constantly photographed, even with friends.

4.  “Whether the news you’re hearing or reading is factual or not.”

5.  “Deep fakes.”

6.  “Shaving . . . everything.”

7.  “Botox and lip filler, having thin lips or a flat butt wasn’t a crime.”

8.  “Texting.  Returning a text and all that anxiety about it.”

9.  “Clearing your inbox of all your emails.  I have to clear mine daily because seeing that I have 100 emails bothers me.”  (100?  What about 10,000???)

10.  “People using the word ‘literally’ all the time, for no reason.  I find that stressful.”

(There are also a lot of examples on the list involving FINANCIAL STRESSORS.)
