It’s National Cheeseburger Day: The Strangest Burger Toppings That Somehow Work

It’s National Cheeseburger Day, and there are two ways to celebrate.  One:  Having a cheeseburger, obviously.

Or two:  Finally throwing away that box of Hamburger Helper Cheeseburger Macaroni that your grandma bought sometime in the mid-’90s.  (???)

There’s a list online of “the strangest burger toppings people have had, that somehow worked.”  And here are some of the best entries:

1.  Peanut Butter.  Someone said, “Don’t knock it till you try it.”

2.  A glazed donut for a bun.

3.  Fennel, Brie cheese, fig jam, and bacon – all together.

4.  Refried beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo.

5.  Pineapple, fused to the burger with cheese.

6.  Peanut sauce and pickled ginger.

7.  Green olives.

8.  A slice of fried bologna.

9.  Fried mac and cheese, instead of normal cheese.

10.  Kimchi.

11.  Banana.

12.  COLD cheese, especially deli American.

13.  Marshmallow fluff and chili sauce.

14.  A slice of ham.  So a TRUE HAM-burger.

15.  Hot dogs.  As a burger topping.

16.  Gummy bears.

By the way, 82% of Americans like cheeseburgers.  66% of people like them topped with American cheese, with cheddar being a close second.  Swiss is our third favorite, followed by pepper jack and provolone.
