It’s National Ice Cream Cone Day: How Do You Prefer to Eat Your Ice Cream?

Ordering ice cream in the thick of summer at a busy ice cream shop can be a tense, high-pressure situation.

Everyone gets distracted by all the flavors and then gets tripped up by the same question:  What kind of cone do you want?

Today is National Ice Cream Cone Day.  And a while back, a poll asked 6,500 American adults what they like their ice cream served in.

32% want a waffle cone, 16% want a sugar cone, and only 8% prefer cake cones.   33% pass up the cones altogether to get a cup, and another 2% want “something else,” like maybe a specialty cone.  (Or, maybe they just devour their ice cream directly out of the carton?)

(To be clear:  Cake cones are those flaky, crispy ones with a flat bottom.  Sugar cones are more sturdy, with a pointy bottom.  Waffle cones have a wider top, with a rim that’s usually not flat.)
