Someone needs to get Nancy Drew on a flight to Philly. There’s a small food stall in Philadelphia called Mac Mart, where they make macaroni and cheese dishes for people walking down the street.
The owner Marti Lieberman says she got a random email a while back from someone offering free food. It looked like an overseas company, so Marti says she didn’t end up accepting the offer.
But then one day, 600 tubs of French onion dip suddenly showed up at her business, which is just a small six-foot by 11-foot kiosk. The boxes were marked “Heluva Good! French Onion Dip.”
So she called their customer service, and they had NO IDEA what the delivery was, and said they didn’t send them.
Marti was going to give the dips away to customers, but the company said she should probably throw them in the trash, because they didn’t know if the tubs were tainted, or if they’d been properly stored so people wouldn’t get sick.
So she did. And the mystery is STILL mostly unsolved.
The company investigated it, and they think the dips were left over from a promotional deal with a business in Australia. But that doesn’t explain how or why it ended up in Philly, especially since someone would’ve had to pay to have them shipped around the world.
(Here’s Marti telling the story on her Instagram. Note: This was BEFORE she was advised NOT to give the dips away.)
