If you’ve never noticed, Friday the 13th and discounted tats go hand-in-hand, with tattoo shops across the country offering discounts today.
The tradition dates back to the mid-’90s, when a shop in Dallas held a Friday the 13th tattoo marathon. It was a hit, and the idea caught on and spread across the country.
A lot of the tattoos back then cost just $13, but prices have gone up over time. Today, many shops celebrate with “flash tattoos,” or small, pre-drawn designs at a discounted price.
The concept has gone so mainstream that Chipotle is even getting in on the action this year. Go in to any Chipotle from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. today, show them your real or fake ink, and get a buy-one-get-one free entrée.
