The Billboard Music Awards took place Sunday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Kelly Clarkson hosted the show which aired live on NBC.  Ed Sheeran took home the top artist prize, and other big winners included Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars. The show also featured performances from Janet Jackson, who accepted the 2018 Billboard Music Awards ICON Award and performed for the first time on television in nine years, as well as BTS, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, Christina Aguilera featuring Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello and Pharrell Williams, Khalid & Normani, Jennifer Lopez featuring DJ Khaled, Macklemore and Kesha, Salt-N-Pepa featuring En Vogue, Shawn Mendes & Khalid and Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey. 

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were officially married on Saturday, May 19 after exchanging their vows in front of the world at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.  The Royal Wedding 2018 has attracted huge global interest, with people tuning in from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and Canada. In the UK, over 18 million people watched the big day yesterday across a number of channels. BBC One, which covered the Windsor wedding between 9am and 2pm, averaged 8.7m viewers over the five hours, hitting a peak audience of 13.1m around 12:30pm during the middle of the ceremony. CBS released the first trailer for the revival of the long-running hit comedy “Murphy Brown.” The trailer shows Candice Bergen as award-winning journalist Murphy Brown tackling the “state of cable news, clickbait, and a very different political and cultural climate.” Bergen’s character says. “The problem was I didn’t know what to do with myself – and then we had an election.” Original cast members Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, and Grant Shaud will reprise their roles as Corky Sherwood, Frank Fontana and Miles Silverberg. Tyne Daly also joins the cast as Phyllis, the sister of beloved bar owner Phil. Murphy Brown premiered in November of 1988 and ran for 10 seasons on CBS, winning 18 Emmys and three Golden Globes. The Murphy Brown reboot will air Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on CBS.

Marvel superhero creator Stan Lee has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $1 billion in damages from POW! Entertainment, the company he co-founded. In a suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, 95-year-old Lee alleged that POW! fraudulently forged his signature on legal documents and stole his identity. According to the lawsuit, POW! CEO Shane Duffy and co-founder Gill Champion are alleged to have “conspired and agreed to broker a sham deal to sell POW! to a company in China and fraudulently steal Stan Lee’s identity, name, image, and likeness.” Lee, who co-created super-heroes including the X-Men, the Avengers and the Black Panther, formed POW! (standing for “Purveyors of Wonder”) in 2001 with Champion and Arthur Lieberman. Lee is currently a Marvel “goodwill ambassador”, having received a $10 million payout when the company was sold to Disney for $4 billion in 2010.

Freeform has picked up a 10-episode spin-off of the popular teen drama Pretty Little Liars. Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionist is another book series by the same PLL author Sara Shepard. The show is about two girls from Beacon Heights, a town know for its mysteries, who become the prime suspect in a murder they did not commit. Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionist will focus on new faces of the PLL universe — Sofia Carson from Disney Channel’s Descendants, Sydney Park from the Walking Dead and newcomer Eli Brown will all become part of the main cast. The show is created by I. Marlene King, who was the the same creator for the original series. The pilot has already been filmed, however, the series is not set to premiere until 2019.
