Old Dominion Scores 5th No. 1 Single With “Hotel Key”

Country group Old Dominion, consisting of Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Geoff Sprung, Brad Tursi and Whit Sellers, just scored their fifth No. 1 single. “Hotel Key” has ascended to the top of the Mediabase chart. “Hotel Key,” which is featured on the band’s 2017 No. 1 album, Happy Endings, was co-penned by Matthew, Trevor and Josh Osborne, and comes after their previous No. 1 hits such as “Break Up With Him,” “Song for Another Time,” “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” and “Written in the Sand.” Old Dominion won Vocal Group of the Year at the 2018 ACM Awards, and is nominated for “Vocal Group of the Year” at the upcoming CMA Awards in November.

Charlie Robison Announces Retirement After Surgery Leaves Him Without Ability To Sing

Singer-songwriter Charlie Robison has announced his retirement from music, saying medical complications are to blame. Robison shared the news of his official retirement on Monday, Sept. 24, via social media. The singer explains that he underwent a surgery at the beginning of 2018 that, “because of complications, left me with the permanent inability to sing;” an earlier Instagram post from Robison’s team reveals that the surgery was on his throat, and took place on Jan. 3. Without his voice, and “with a very heavy heart,” Robison says, he is “officially retiring from the stage and studio.” Robison released a solo album, Bandera, in 1996; he then signed with Sony for 1998’s Life of the Party and a 2000 live album with Jack Ingram and his brother, Bruce Robison. Robison released a total of nine albums throughout his career. Robison served as a judge on the first season of the TV singing competition Nashville Star in 2003; that season, Buddy Jewell won, while Miranda Lambert placed third.

Thomas Rhett Adds 2019 Canada Stops For ‘Life Changes Tour’ With Dustin Lynch

Thomas Rhett is taking his “Life Changes Tour” to Canada in 2019 for nine dates. Kicking off on April 24 in Montreal, Rhett will make additional stops in Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver and more. Dustin Lynch will serve as support. “My fans in Canada are incredible, so I’m really excited that we will be headed there for a couple weeks next year and get to bring all the energy of the Life Changes Tour with us,” said Thomas Rhett. Tickets for the Canadian leg of the “Life Change Tour” will go on sale on September 28.

Carrie Underwood Makes History With “Cry Pretty,” Topping The All-Genre Billboard 200 Albums Chart

Carrie Underwood’s sixth studio album, Cry Pretty, has topped the all-genre Billboard 200 chart this week. Cry Pretty moved 266,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music, giving it the best-selling opening week in country music since Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights in 2015. Cry Pretty joins Carrie’s three previous No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200—2007’s Carnival Ride, 2009’s Play On and 2012’s Blown Away—making her the first woman in country music history to top the chart four times. The new album is also the best-selling album by a woman of any genre in 2018, surpassing Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy.

Kane Brown Salutes The Troops In ‘Homesick’ Music Video

Kane Brown just released his heartwarming video for the new song, “Homesick.” Homesick is featured on his upcoming album, Experiment, due out on November 9th.  Kane dedicated his new video to “the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.” The video features footage of servicemen and women reuniting with their families after deployment. Kane penned the tune with Brock Berryhill, Matthew McGinn and Taylor Phillips.
