Here’s something that will reveal your age: 2025 is the 100th anniversary of the Howard Johnson brand. (If you’re 60 years old, you just felt a pang of nostalgia. If you’re 18, you have no idea what I’m talking about.)
The Howard Johnson hotel and restaurant chain is celebrating a century of business by releasing a limited-edition FRIED CLAM . . . SOAP.
It’s a nod to the fried clam strips at Howard Johnsons. The soap has been “infused with lemon, sea salt and ‘a hint of butter,'” which is an homage to the rolls that were served with the fried clam strips.
If you’re looking for a gag gift for grandpa or grandma, you can get a box at Hojo.com/100 for $19.25, beginning tomorrow.
If you’re wondering, there are still about 280 Howard Johnson hotels worldwide, and about 135 in the U.S. There are no more Howard Johnson RESTAURANTS. The last one in Lake George, New York closed three years ago.
