A lot of school kids are gearing up to take their state tests pretty soon. This means there will be a lot of stressed-out teachers and parents. So, just for fun, let’s check out a Reddit that asked teachers, “What is the funniest / dumbest thing a student has ever said or done?”
Here are some of the best responses:
1. A teacher was explaining how dangerous UV rays are in sunlight and a student asked, “If the sun is so dangerous, why did we build it?”
2. A student said that having a baby boy or girl was determined by whether or not they had an innie or outie belly button.
3. A teacher asked what year it was and she heard, “2008, 2012, 1985, and 2020.” Then a student asked if she could look it up on her phone.”
4. A professor called out a student for turning in a paper she hadn’t written. So, the student emailed the professor and CC’d the dean, and said it was hers because she paid her “own money” to have it written.
5. A student found his teacher’s master’s thesis and then tried to turn parts of it back in to him verbatim.
6. A boy in high school thought the penis was the end of the intestines.
7. A teacher was going over World War Two, when a girl raised her hand and asked completely serious, “Wait, England isn’t a state in the U.S.?”
8. A 10th grader was arguing with another student about needing a passport to visit Canada. Her defense – her grandma lives in Canada—specifically in Chicago.
9. One day while I was helping grade papers, it became quite apparent that one little girl had copied from the boy sitting next to her— not only were the answers the same, she also had written his name on top of her paper!
10. A student once asked, “How do you spell VCR?””
