Some people flat-out refuse to eat salad, at least the cold lettuce, tomato, cucumber kind. But would you make an exception for macaroni salad, potato salad, fruit salad, or fart salad?
Yeah, you heard that right. There’s a trend on TikTok of FART SALADS, which are connected to the trend of “maxxing” everything, in this case, fiber.
There’s no ONE recipe for a fart salad, but the signature ingredient seems to be “cruciferous vegetables,” like broccoli, cabbage, or Brussels sprouts. Some even use a packaged coleslaw mix. That’s the main gassy, fiber part.
Fart salads don’t have to be SUPER healthy. You can use pasta, cheese, pepperoni, onion, seasoning, and dressing. (Which almost makes it sound more like a Pizza Salad than a fart salad.)
If you want a high-fiber fart salad that’s healthier, you can sub-out the pasta, processed meats, jarred salad dressing, and cheese.
Instead, you could add more fresh veggies, beans (which would make it EXTRA farty), and a lean meat like chicken or tuna. And a whole grain base like quinoa or wild rice, rather than pasta.
It depends. Some people don’t want salad unless it’s HEALTHY. Others don’t want salad unless it’s, well, SOMEWHAT EDIBLE.
(Here’s one video that’s going viral. There’s another bean-heavy version, here. Or explore more at the “fart salad” hashtag. Some of them go back a couple years, so the term wasn’t JUST invented or anything.)
